With Headway, there are two main areas which are concerned with the design and layout:
The positioning of elements – which we call leafs.
The styling of those elements.
Both the positioning and styling can be achieved either with the visual editor, or with manual entries in the custom.css.

A nice effect for a blog is to use images for the categories. If it’s a new blog, then spend a little time working out which categories to create – remember the whole point is to make it easier for users to find what they’re looking for.

This is a video, which shows how to add a categories menu to the navigation bar, but also looks at the extensibility of headway, and how with a couple of edits, we can add this to the visual design editor.
But be warned, this involves editing core files, which comes with the risk of breaking everything!
